Human Rights Center UNSA

Human Rights Center of the University of Sarajevo opened its doors on 1 January 1997 with the support of the Council of Europe, the European Union, WUS Austria, the Office of the High Representative and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights. The intention of the founders was for the Center to serve as a reference place–meeting point–for representatives of the academic community, governmental and non-governmental organizations, public officials and individuals interested in the study, promotion and protection of human rights. The Center is not conceived as a strict academic institution, but as an active partner in creating public awareness of the importance of effective protection of human rights in everyday life. Respecting the founding principles and the spirit of its mission, the Center has so far:

• participated in the implementation of 40 (forty) national and international educational and scientific research programs, two of which were part of the European FP6 program that involved a large consortium of European universities;
